About The Role

We are looking to bring in someone who is skilled in finance and has strong experience working in a business that operates multiple currencies across multiple countries.

From Day 1, we will need you to streamline and improve our accounting functions and operations, create an accounting system that can scale and provide leadership through thoughtful analysis and reports of our financial data. We also need you to champion regulatory and industry compliance by providing timely audited reports to authorities.

You will be responsible for preparing our financial statements and analysing all the trends, patterns and inconsistencies hidden in our financials. The overall responsibility for improving our organization's financial performance and directing our accounting operations will rest with you.

This role is also expected to prepare MPR reports and trigger reviews of budget and budget performance for both cost and revenue on a monthly and quarterly basis, to ensure we achieve our year on year revenue targets.

We expect that you will be a team player who is thorough and proficient at risk evaluation and management, forecasting revenue and monitoring expenses, implementing proper internal controls, and is deeply passionate about ensuring accuracy of financial information.

Reporting Relationships amp; Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Report to the (CFO) Chief Financial Officer (Ayodeji Osisami) and working as part of the highly analytical and detail-oriented Finance Team.
  • Working collaboratively with our Sales team, Legal Team, Operations Team, and Compliance team.

Requirements

What you'll be doing (Responsibilities)

  • Manage the accounting books and the preparation of daily and monthly journal entries and supporting schedules for areas of responsibilities in the organization, with focus on Group assets and liabilities, including but not limited to: corporate cash, fixed assets, prepaids, intangibles and accounts payable.
  • Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure financial statement accuracy.
  • Prepare and ensure the MPR (Monthly Profitability/Performance Report) review sessions holds monthly or quarterly., liaising with the Head, Finance on appropriate time and mode of conducting the MPR.
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
  • Participate in the audit process to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
  • Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement to the systems, processes, and procedures to improve the overall performance of the Finance team.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing, recommending, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Perform Ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed.

What you’ll need (Competencies):

  • You have an Accounting Qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in a similar capacity.
  • Regulatory Reporting Experience in a Central Bank of Nigeria regulated entity.
  • Experience in a fintech startup that has a significant transaction volume
  • Experience in the design, implementation and maintenance of internal controls to mitigate the risk of material misstatement.
  • You have great analytical skills, good attention to detail (able to identify and flag unnoticeable errors) and are solution-oriented.
  • Understanding of IFRS reporting standards and other standards.
  • Good attention to detail and good organisational skills.
  • Ability to design amp; implement processes.
