Job Summary:
Traffic officer is responsible to ensure that there is a seamless process for loading, dispatch of trucks and ensure the safe and free flow of traffic to prevent road crashes and deaths on the roads. The traffic officeris also responsible for enforcing the rules of the road and signs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Give direction to trucks on where is appropriate to park while awaiting loading
- Manage the movement of trucks within and around strategic coverage areas
- Respond to request to decongest traffic congestion experienced by road users
- Submit daily traffic report on daily basis to the Traffic Supervisor
- Identify the root cause of traffic issues encountered and accordingly notify the Traffic Supervisor
- Proffer solutions on curtailing traffic issues
- Provide initial field training to newly recruited traffic assistants
Requirements
Education and Work Experience:
- National Diploma (N.D) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in any field.
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience
- In-depth knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
- Strong communication skills, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to handle various traffic situations
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions
- Knowledge of first aid and basic medical assistance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
