About the role

This is a high-impact, collaborative role responsible for driving outcomes across the product and operations. As a Partnerships Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in driving our growth strategy by identifying, establishing, and managing strategic partnerships. You would be working with relevant stakeholders across the different teams within the organization to help meet the business objectives.

As a Partnerships Specialist at Kora, you will focus on cultivating and sustaining business relationships, negotiating contracts, and driving measurable results through collaborative ventures.

You will be heavily involved in scoping new partners, ensuring that the partnerships are closed and strategies are implemented as we continue to scale and meet the ever-growing demands of our merchants and the business.

Requirements

What you’ll be doing
  • Identify and assess potential partnership opportunities that align with the company's strategic goals.
  • Develop a comprehensive partnership strategy to foster business growth and expansion.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and potential partners.
  • Lead negotiations to establish mutually beneficial partnership agreements.
  • Ensure that all partnership agreements are well-defined, legally sound, and align with the company's objectives.
  • Collaborate with legal and finance teams to finalize and execute partnership contracts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for partners, maintaining strong relationships and addressing concerns promptly.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure effective implementation and delivery of partnership initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate partnership performance against established goals.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, potential competitors, and new partnership opportunities.
  • Analyze market data and competitor strategies to inform decision-making and enhance partnership effectiveness.
  • Regularly communicate with internal teams to update on partnership developments and opportunities.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports on partnership performance and ROI.
  • Pre-booking appointments with key decision makers, and scheduling meetings accordingly for all partnership-related travels.
  • Make disruption moves in the acquisition of strategic partnerships that would help us achieve our overall strategic plan every year.
  • Managing and maintaining relationships with partners to ensure sustainability and product reliability.
  • Be always acquainted with the overall plan of Kora to ensure that the required partnerships are procured to realize such plans and nothing fails.
What you’ll need
  1. A minimum of 5 years experience in partnership management or business development, preferably in a payments or related industry.
  2. Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  3. Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  4. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market trends and data.
  5. Demonstrated success in driving revenue and growth through strategic partnerships.
  6. Familiarity with legal and regulatory considerations in partnership agreements.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  9. Proactive problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Reporting Line: This role reports to the Head of Operations (Stephen Oluwatobi), while also collaborating closely with the relevant business units across the organization.

[60m] Cultural Fit Interview (Our Core Values) - At this stage, you'll engage in a conversation with Kora's COO, the Head of People and Culture, and the head of the team you’re being considered for. The aim is to understand you better and assess the alignment of your beliefs and values with Kora's distinctive culture. We'd like to emphasize that there are no right or wrong answers expected. However, we encourage you to maintain a positive attitude during this session.

Working hours

Given that we are an all-remote company and hire almost anywhere in the world, we don’t have a location requirement for this role. However, your working hours must coincide with 9:00 am - 5:00 pm WAT for at least 40 hours/week.
