Position: Laboratory Attendant III

Contract: 1-year renewable contract Location: Ibadan

DUTIES:

· Assist with set up and maintenance of pathology phenotyping trials in the laboratory, screen house and field.

· Carry out nematode cultures using carrot discs.

· Assist with Pseudocercospora sp. mass production and detached leaf assays.

· Populate and maintain the populations of the banana weevil cosmopolites sordidus.

· Supervise casual workers for implementation of assigned tasks.

· Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION:

O’level with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

COMPETENCIES:

The ideal candidate must:

• Have excellent interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
• Have the ability to use basic Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Have a positive attitude and strong team spirit.
• Have experience in nematode cultures, nematode identification, Pseudocercospora isolation and multiplication, weevil sorting on the sexual dimorphism.
• Have experience with field/lab data collection.•
