Job Description

Our client in the Utility sector is looking to fill the role of Head of Human Resources.

The Head of HR will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the organisation, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organisation's mission and talent strategy.

Ensure that the organisation attracts, develops, deploys, and retains the talent it requires to deliver its strategic aims and objectives in a cost-effective manner and within the defined time frames.

Work with company leadership to articulate and promote a distinctive organisational culture and employer brand to all the relevant stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for shaping and implementing the organisation’s HR strategy in areas such as Talent Acquisition, Organisation Design amp; Development, Talent amp; Performance Management, Compensation amp; Benefits, and Learning amp; Development.
  • To provide direction and advice on best practices, ensuring an efficient and focused support services in the unit.
  • To serve a strategic role in ensuring the organisation is highly competitive, attractive to talent and sustainable for business growth.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and onboard new staff in the organisation
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the HR department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Collaborates with the organisation's leadership to understand the organisation's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organisation's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organisational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organisation's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Monitors and ensures the organisation's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Develops and implements departmental budget.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Performs other duties as required by the organisation

  • Strong understanding of Strategic Human Resource Management functions.
