Project Summary and ContextTo contribute to the mitigation of the protracted conflict North east particularly in Borno State, Search for Common Ground (Search) with funding from UNICEF are implementing a project titled Strengthening the Resilience and Reintegration of Children formerly Associated with Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs) and Vulnerable Children (VC) in Northeast of Nigeria 2022.
The project has designed a comprehensive and integrated approach that builds on the previous two project phases, as such Since May 2018, Search’s implementation of the two-phased UNICEF-funded project Supporting the Socio-Economic Reintegration of Children Associated with Armed Forces and Armed Groups including the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in North-East Nigeria has ensured that over 2,500 children verified and separated from the CJTF and other NSAGs in five targeted LGAs received psychosocial and socioeconomic reintegration support with an understanding of the importance of their separation and reintegration by the government, CJTF and communities. Search will build on its extensive work on reintegration, reconciliation and resettlement of Children formerly associated with armed groups (CAAFAGS), trust building through dialogue, and promoting positive perceptions through reliable information and peace messaging.
The Project aims to provide psycho-social reintegration services to children formerly associated with Non-State Armed Groups (NSAG) and vulnerable children (VC) and will consist of components on community based social reintegration, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Education and peacebuilding.
Purpose of ConsultancyMental Health and Psychosocial Support key messages to promote wellbeingMost people affected by emergencies will experience distress (e.g. feelings of anxiety and sadness, hopelessness, difficulty sleeping, fatigue, irritability or anger and/or aches and pains). Mental health issue has been a concern and common health condition in the northeast and especially with the reintegrated CAAFAGS
In Search’s effort to raise awareness on mental health stigma, trauma and discrimination through the support of UNICEF, Search through a workshop with partners, community leaders and stakeholders had developed a contextualize key messages for promoting mental health and wellbeing across project location.
To this end, Search will engaged a consultant to produce a brochure from the key messages with images that promote mental health and psychosocial wellbeing with information on existing referral centers with educational messages in MMC, Jere, Mafa, Konduga and Gwoza LGA of Borno State about the process of reconciliation and reintegration.
Reporting LineUnder direct supervision of Search’s Project Manager on the Project with technical support from the Psychologist, the Consultant will work with the Project Management team to coordinate and ensure the smooth development of the brochureDeliverables
  • Design brochure with Key MHPSS messages developed by stakeholders for promoting MHPSS wellbeing.
  • Present a clear pictorial Community MHPSS referral pathway in the brochure.
  • Present clear Pictures and illustration depicting MHPSS wellbeing with specific target location.The pictures/graphics presented in the brochure should convey core messages of the project and tell on mental health and psychosocial wellbeing
  • The brochure should mirror the communities’ situations through different perspectives and understanding of mental health, challenges faced, also their coping and managing strategies.
  • The brochure with MHPSS key messages and pictures should target community members, reflecting real life situations unique to them.
  • Translate key messages to local languages (Hausa, Kanuri)
  • Ensure that guidelines are in the correct format for printing
  • SEARCH will provide expert field knowledge with the consultant all through the process of development.
  • The consultancy is for a period of 14 days
Requirements
  • At least five years experience in brochure development in print with pictures and that depicts objectives.
  • Experience working with INGOs and other Donor Organizations in similar roles.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards; with passion and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to beat date line
  • Good understanding of graphical illustration and animation.Ability
